Writing & editing

The Editor is a full word processor, not a plain-text box.

Format text

Use the formatting toolbar for bold/italic/underline, colours, alignment, lists, and indent. The Styles gallery applies named paragraph styles (Title, Heading 1–3, Body Text, Block Quote, Caption) so your document is structured, not just decorated — those styles drive export too.

Insert things

The Insert menu adds tables, footnotes, images, links, citations, and embeds — a live inline view of another document, entity, spreadsheet, map, or chart via ![[Target]]. A GM-only callout is an embed restricted to an audience (see Review & sharing).

Find & replace

Press Ctrl+H for the in-editor bar, or Edit ▸ Find in Project (Ctrl+Shift+F) to search or replace across the whole manuscript or a subtree — with regex and backreferences.

Write without distraction

Windows offers Distraction-Free (F11), Typewriter (keep the caret line centred), and Focus (dim every paragraph but the current one) modes, plus a Page Layout view that shows the printed page.

Let the world help

Character and place names auto-link to the Codex; F8 / Shift+F8 jump between mentions. The AI menu offers Summarize, Continue, Rewrite, and a canon-consistency check — see Working with AI.
