Working with AI

Easy Writer's AI is bring-your-own-provider and off by default. Nothing is sent anywhere until you configure an endpoint and act.

Configure a provider

In AI ▸ AI Settings, point Easy Writer at any OpenAI-compatible endpoint — a cloud service or a fully local model. Your key is stored per-user, never in the project. You can set a per-session token budget and turn on name redaction for cloud calls.

Everyday help

The Editor's AI menu offers Summarize, Continue, Brainstorm, Rewrite, Expand, and a canon-consistency check that cross-references your Codex. The AI Chat dock is a multi-turn assistant with personas.

Ground it on your world

Build World Index, then Ask Your World answers grounded on the most relevant codex entities (semantic retrieval). Find Similar Entities and Semantic Search use the same index.

Let it act

Turn on Allow the assistant to make changes for an agent that creates and edits project content through your provider — each request is one undo step. Exclude from AI on an object withholds it from every AI feature. The same automation is available headlessly over the MCP API.
