Constructed languages
Design an invented language from its sounds up in the Languages dock.
Build the sound system
Define a phoneme inventory and phonotactics (sound categories, weighted syllable templates, and constraints), then generate words into the lexicon. Add a romanization scheme so the script reads the way you want.
Grow a vocabulary
Enrich lexicon entries (IPA, semantic field, part of speech), generate vocabulary for a semantic field or the Swadesh core list, and search the dictionary.
Grammar and translation
Define inflection paradigms, pronouns, a numeral system, and word order. Translate passages, with a three-line interlinear (Leipzig) gloss.
Evolve and write
Author sound changes and right-click a language to Derive Daughter Language — a descendant tongue with cognate links back to the parent. Design a conscript (writing system) with glyphs and ligatures and preview a word drawn in it. Finally, export a reference grammar.
Everything here is also scriptable over the MCP API.
